CONFUCIUS   TEMPLE   AT   CHANGHUA

The confucise Temple at Changhua pwas built by Magistrate Chang Hao 1726 during the reign of Emperor Yung-Chen of Ching dynasty.  The area covered approximately 1.753 hectares and it was a brick-wooden traditional palace-style temple. Magistrate  Cherng Yun-Ching restored the temple in 1751 during the reign of  Emperor  Chien-Lung of Ching dynasty bnt discontinued work for some reason. In 1753.  Magistrate Wang continuted and finished it. Form those days till now, works
of restoration have been pursued eight times.  Today, the building still has Tacheng Hall, easten wing, westen wing, rear Hall
of the Chorng Sheng shrine,Jii Door and Ling-Shing Door.    The whole building is of grand scope.   The Confucius Temple
belonged to Changhua Govemment and its architecture cannot be modelled after the Provinial Government school; so it was
built on the Shy-Her-Yuannn style. The easten wing and the westen wing ware separate construction not connected with the
Jii Door and the rwar Hall.    Outside the Ling-Shing Door, there were the Lii Door, the Yih Road, the Pann Pool and View
Wall but all of these had  been destroyed  during the  Japanese occupation.    In 1976, much work have been undertaken to
preserve the remaining.  buildings and today the once falling structures have recovered much of its original majesty and much beauty.
